[6:04 PM EDT - Tired, and not ready.]

I just finished taking a shower. Now I have to finish packing and getting ready for my trip. I played ice hockey and roller hockey today. Fortunately roller hockey finished early or I may have stayed there too long!

It was the last game of the season for roller hockey so I wanted to take pictures, but not everyone was there unfortunately. Just about everyone who was there was a regular though.

Oh yeah, I also agreed to tutor someone next week. How did I end up pulling that off? I didn't plan on tutoring anyone anytime soon. Oh well, I don't think I have time to mull on that question. I should get ready.

[Wednesday, August 21, 2002: Déjà voyage.]

As always, the drive to the airport was uneventful. The highway was pretty empty though, so that made traffic a non-issue. When I arrived at the terminal, I was completely taken back by the number of people who were at the airport. After looking at some of the ticket kiosks where I had entered (which was again at the other end of the terminal so I had to walk all the way from one end to the other) I was a little afraid that I didn't come early enough. I had anticpated the standard hour-and-a-half arrival cushion would be enough, but with the lineups extending through the aisles and filling up the foyer, it didn't seem likely I'd be able to get a ticket today (much less before my flight was scheduled to leave). But I pushed onward because, well, there wasn't much else I could do right?

As I got closer and closer to the other end of the terminal, I noticed that the crowd began to thin out and eventually the entire area was pretty much devoid of passengers. When I made it to the kiosk, I was the only one in line. In fact, I was the only one in line for the US customs, and there was virtually nobody around. I thought it was pretty quick the last time I came through this way but this took the cake. I doubt I'll be able to handle the lineups from now on after zipping by customs this time. (No wonder why this was such a cheap flight.)

There were a number of people waiting at the gate, but most of them were for a different flight so our plane was going to be pretty empty. *imagines reclining across several seats*

Hmm, it's already past the depature time and we haven't heard any word from our flight. Then again, I've been updating my entries so I might have been too engrossed to notice people lining up and leaving. *thinks* Nah. I don't think I'm the only one who's been stranded here. There are six other passengers sitting around the waiting each one is either going to sleep, or getting agitated. You can tell the ones who have a schedule to keep.

Ah ha! It seems like the plane was having some maintenance issues, so we will be boarding shortly.

The flight was uneventful. I tried to get some sleep, but I couldn't get confortable enough. As we approched the airport, I could've sworn that I saw lightning in the distance, but it was so sporaddic that I didn't think anything of it until later.

When we arrived at the airport, I saw that the place was deserted. The place also had an RT like the Atlanta airport but I decided to walk instead since I had so much time. There were moving sidewalks in the corridor and everytime I approached an entrance or exit, a speaker would turn on and a male voice would drone out that I was approaching or leaving the moving sidewalk and should be careful. Geez, louise! It felt like I was playing Half-life again! At least the blind would be able to find their way.

The ground looked wet so it seemed as if it rained recently. The sky also kept lighting up with repeated lightning strikes. It was quite a show actually, although I was a little worried about rain since I hate driving in the dark in the rain on unknown roads with a rental car which I've never used before. It's not always a good combination. I made it to the car rental agency and the guy told me to choose whatever compact I wanted, so I went out to the parking lot and noticed that there were no cars in the compact (or sub-compact) spots. As I stood outside wondering what to do, the guy came outside and told me that they didn't have any compact cars and that I should take one of the full sized cars. Okay. I took a look at the cars that were parked and noticed that they were all Malibus, there was also a Dodge Stratus which I wanted to try out. Oops, the doors were locked and the keys were inside (as was a bag that someone had left behind). Okay, he then told me to take one of the cars that was parked at the other end of the lot. I chose a Dodge Intrepid. (This one had Louisiana plates. Cool.)

The rental agency guy was kind enough to give me directions to the hotel, but unfortunately, I didn't have a map so I had to just go by what he told me. So.. I nearly got lost. I saw the hotel and made one turn too early and ended up on the expressway going the wrong way. That's okay, I eventually found my way back to the hotel and make the correct turn this time.

I got out of the car and my glasses immediately fogged up. I guess the humidity follows me everywhere. Funny enough, when I checked in, I was told that they didn't have any non-smoking rooms with king sized beds. So, I chose a non-smoking double bed room. Strange, it was just like the other trip! Except this time I only got one card. I was allowed to chose the floor and then was given the pie room.
