[2:11 PM EDT - Dawn Suth.]

Well.. not really. Here I am in one piece again. It's pretty nice down here, but I've got some work ahead. Back to work I go.

[Wednesday, August 21, 2002: Kentucky Rolling Hills.]

I got up early, although with difficulty. Breakfast was brief and not very filling, but I had a long drive ahead and didn't want to dally. The drive took me out of the city and onto the country highway which weaved through the low hills and riverside. It was a very good ride actually. The road weaved enough to keep me awake, and there was a lot of nice scenery around that area. I could see kids wanting to street race there, but there's way too much traffic for that sort of activity.

The place was really nice. In a remote, there's nothing else out here kind of way. The foliage in the area provided ample shade for the cicadas in the area. The noise that they made was a continuous thunder of creaks that brought back memories of all of the anime that was set in Japan in the summertime. Really, that's how it sounded!

I stayed late because I wanted to finish some things before leaving that day, and probably because of that, I ended up missing a turn I was supposed to make to make it back to the hotel and ended up taking a little detour through the outskirts of the city. I did find my way back, and I was able to mail off the rest of my postcards and had dinner. I wanted to get rid of my dollar coins so I ended up paying the cashier in coinage only. When she received the money, she looked at me and told me that the bill was "such and such" an amount. I nodded towards her handfull of change and she double checked. A moment later, she silently put the money into her till. I also tipped with one of those coins. I wonder if he thought I was giving him a quarter only.

When I arrived back at the hotel, there was a message on my phone. I hadn't told anyone where I was staying so I found that a little perplexing. I listened to the message and was annoyed to find out that the guy was speaking to me in Spanish. Great, what was I supposed to do now? I left the message while I thought about what I was going to do.
