[10:29 AM EDT - Ready to roll out.]

Hey, we're leaving to the nation's capital soon. I won't be back until tomorrow sometime. We'll see if I get access while I'm down there.

[Sunday, June 17, 2001: The big six-oh.]

The ride up to Ottawa wasn't particularly eventful. I slept for most of the trip. We arrived in town about an hour early so we were able to get ready at the hotel before heading down to the house. (Where "getting ready" for me was putting something over my t-shirt.) We were like the last people to get there. Upon entering the house, I didn't see all too many people, but the doors were closed and there were lots hiding in the living room and out at the back. I recognized most of them from the wedding, although I was pretty bad with coming up with names.

When the man of the hour arrived, he walked into the living room and just stood there, completely stunned as we shouted "Surprise!". He was so overwhelmed that he had trouble recognizing people. Well, after that was the mingling and the food; and there was a LOT of food.

There isn't really much to say at this point. The food was good. (Those veggie domes were really, really good.) The people were friendly. You know, it's so weird (for me) when everyone just comes up to you and introduces themselves. Hey, I'm not that outgoing, so it's strange to me okay? It was also nice to see a bunch of people I hadn't seen in a while. After (the six hours of constant) food and photo flipping, we had the present opening ceremony (as well as story sharing session) after which the crowds quickly dispersed and most of us went home. (Well, we went back to the hotel.)
