[11:00 AM EST - A little argument.]

MJNL and I had a little argument (well, discussion really) regarding my (supposedly excessive) sports habits. Because of my weak right knee and wrist, she wants me to cut down on playing sports. (As I have games on every night except Thursdays and Fridays.)

Well, she is right. I do play too many sports and I realize that playing broomball on Sunday nights was probably a mistake since it is really late at night and is much more intense than any of the other sessions. But I did pretty much commit to playing for the rest of the season, which is about ten more games.

In any case, she wants me to stop right now, and I would prefer to at least finish off the season. Although she has not explicitly forbade me to go, she has been applying the guilt technique to make me rethink my actions. (It is quite a powerful technique I might add.)

Anyway, I did not go to broomball last night. I cited the weather as the main factor why I decided to stay at home. (Which is true, considering how crappy conditions were that afternoon.) Besides, I just had people over and I wanted to clean up.

Actually, I felt good not going. I got to go to bed earlier, and felt more productive. With any luck, the team would have won without my presence.

It's completely legitimate to tell a team that you need to retract your participation for health reasons. You only have one set of knees and one set of wrists in this lifetime.

Thanks girl! I said the same thing to him (we're only born with one set of wrists and knees). I have seen numerous people in rehab with muscle and joint problems. It's definitely not fast nor easy to recover from an injury. If he doesn't decrease his participation in sports, I am worried that he will very likely get injured. I hope he doesn't decrease his level of participation because I am making him feel 'guilty', but because it's the right thing to do.

Well, I did at one point ski all winter, play roller hockey all summer, and play ultimate all summer and fall. (In addition to what I am doing now.)

No more. No more.
