[11:48 PM CEST - Riding. Lots of riding (and flying a kite).]

I did not have any real plans for today, but girl suggested that I ride up to her work place, and then we would go and fly a kite. She had warned me to leave early as it normally takes over an hour to ride out there and I would undoubtedly get lost. I work up late (again) this morning and did not leave the apartment until the last minute. I had picked out my route quickly as it seemed to me to be the most direct, and the easiest to follow. I would not have to make too many turns, and part of the trip was through the deer park.

I brought along a map, and all of the streets and paths were named, so even if I did get a little lost, I should be able to regain my bearings at any intersection and find my way back to the right path. So I left, fully confident that I would be able to make it there in one piece.

Things went well at the beginning: The streets all had bike paths and everything was easy to follow. The first snag occurred when I reached the deer park. I had gone to the closest entrance, and found that the gate was closed and there was nobody around.

Confused, I decided to bike around to the other gate to see if it was open. This gate seemed to be more of a common gate and it was open, with people flowing through it. Behind the gate there were many buildings and people. There were also a lot of horse drawn carriages, so I had to ride around them on my trek through the park. One thing that I noticed first was that the paved path turned into a dirt road part way into the park. This was not much of an issue since the bike was a mountain bike. The more concerting issue was the fact that none of the paths had any signage. I had relied on following path names and without any names to guide me, I had to refer to the map often whenever I hit a junction to make sure that I was following the right path. This slowed me down considerably, but also gave me many moments to rest and enjoy the scenery. (Ah, them Danish women..)

Ahem.

I bungled around in the park for a while before I was able to make my way out. By the time I reached girl's workplace, I was tired, sweaty, hot, and thirsty. I was able to gulp down quite a bit of liquid sustenance before we left to fly the kite. We biked out to a field where we got the kite out and I tried flying it for the first time. There was not a lot of wind, but it was remarkably easy to fly. We flew the kite for an hour or so before heading back to the apartment.

We met up with Dangerman and one of their friends for dinner, and then went back to the apartment where they had coffee and 'baklava'.
