[5:09 PM CEST - Some good, some not so good.]

Well, I got up late today, again. That was good. However, I did want to explore the city a bit, and the later I left, the less of the city I would see. That was bad. Fortunately, I had the whole afternoon ahead of me. That was good. Unfortunately I had to do laundry because I was critically low on clean clothes. That was bad. It was good that girl and Dangerman have their own laundry machines, but I did not realize that it would take so long to wash my clothes!

I did not leave the apartment until three, but I had studied the map and knew where I should be going. I wanted to catch a canal ride so I could get a brief overview of the city and the tourist attractions. I continued walking along the pedestrian path until I reached a clearing, which should be the port. But there was no water around. It was Nørreport. This was bad, I had gone in the wrong direction. I took a look at the map again and realized that the street that I thought they lived on was not actually it, so I had been going in the wrong direction all this time! I wanted to go to Nyhavn, so I turned around and started walking again. After a bit of a jaunt, I arrived at another open area where there was a canal. I thought that I had arrived at the port, and noticed a ticket office for canal tours. I walked up the the booth and realized after I had bought the ticket that I got a ticket for Gammel Strand. Which actually was the tour I was looking for (even though I was thinking of going to the other location).

Lucky!

Unfortunately I had just missed the last tour (I watched the packed boat go while I was getting the ticket) so I sat on the next boat until the tour started. The tour was alright and I got to see a lot of stuff, but what surprised me the most was when we approached the Little Mermaid. The water front was lined with people and our tour guide was explaining that today was a special day since it was the Little Mermaid's 94th birthday today. At four o'clock ninety-four girls would jump out into the water to commemorate the event.

*looks at watch*

That was.. now! So I watched as a boat load of young women (girls really) pulled out and came close to the statue. I started taking pictures, but the batteries died in my camera so I got no close shots. After the girls jumped in, six guys wearing black suits and shark fins started swimming towards the statue. Their fins were marked with the number sixty-nine. I would have taken a picture of them too had my camera not died on me.

Ah well, the timing was amazingly good for me though. I just happened to be on a boat watching the entire event from the water. In addition to that, our boat was mostly empty. When we arrived back at port, the dock was chock full of tourists waiting to get on to the boat. I pushed my way through them to get out, wondering why my boat was so empty (all of the other tourist boats I saw were completely full).

I also picked up a rock for R6_Chic, the price was 35 kroner but the shopkeeper told me that the price was wrong: It was only 25 kroner. Lucky!
