[11:37 AM EDT - Swiffer is fantastic!]

I don't dust my place. It's just something I don't do. My mom gets all crazy whenever she sees my place because there's dust everywhere. It's mostly due to her allergies. I don't have any dust allergies so it doesn't bother me to see a layer of white on top of everything.

Anyway, I was planning on reconfiguring my video network and noticed a lot of dust behind the monitor. I normally just wipe it down with facial tissue or a damp something to get rid of it, but I had a Swiffer from my parents that I never used, so I decided to give it a run.

After a few swipes, I saw how easy it was, so I started Swiffering other parts of the desk. Soon enough, I was wandering around the apartment to look for any likely spots for dust: the television, the radio, the desks, the counters, even my fan vents. I just wanted to see what it could do.

It was so easy! But now I'm out of refills so I have to pick up a new pack.

[12:20 PM EDT - Running two at once.]

I have a KV switch at home which I use to link all of my computers to my monitor and keyboard. Ever since I got my new mouse and keyboard, I have not been using my old mouse nor my old keyboard all that much. My new hardware is attached only to my new computer, so I left my old mouse with my old machine and the old keyboard is attached to the KV switch. The annoying aspect of my setup was that all of my machines were linked to the monitor via the KV switch, which meant that I still had to flip the switch to alternate between my machines.

This was annoying because my connection to my old machine uses a PS/2 connection while the KV switch uses the old AT connector. For some reason, flipping the switch sometimes breaks the link and clobbers the keyboard. If I'm lucky, flipping the switch back and forth will reinitialize the keyboard, but usually I need to reboot. (Even then it doesn't always work.)

Fortunately, my monitor actually has two inputs. (One of the reasons why I got it.) I haven't been utilizing that feature since I got the KV switch though, but I just spent the past few minutes altering cables until I got my new machine hooked directly to the monitor. I can now use both machines independently of the switch and this is much better.

Oh, I also have two sets of speakers so I can get sounds from both as well. What's so important about this? Well, not much, except that now I can throw any dubious software onto my old machine to test before considering it on my new machine without the headache of switching between the two.

We'll see how this goes, but my old machine feels so SLOW now! (In addition my old keyboard and mouse feel so light!)

[12:21 PM EDT - Mech Commander no worky.]

I haven't been able to get Mech Commander to work on my new machine. I'll try it on my old one and see how that goes.
