[Wednesday, August 5, 2009: A nice day. A nice view.]

MJNL and I slept in today, and stayed in until around noon when the rest of the family left for a BBQ. MJNL went by my old neighborhood to take a look at the house where I lived at. The neighborhood has changed a bit since I was there last. The strip mall that was down the street is no more. Now just a parking lot and transit road remain. The seafood restaurant is still there. So is the church. But when I looked for a way to get to the river, we found the whole area fenced off. How unfortunate!

Because I wanted 'poutine', we went to Dunn's near there for a late lunch. We finished with over an hour before the rest of MJNL's family arrived, so we drove downtown, and then up Mount Royal and stayed at the observation point for a little bit before coming back down to Central Station to pick up the family.

We checked into the Sheraton and then walked around a little bit before going to Bar-B-Barn for dinner.

After filling up, we headed down to the old port to watch the fireworks. It was the United States that was presenting, and it was quite an entertaining show.

The Metro was packed on the way back, so we spent some time in the nearby Metro and picked up some groceries.

The station was still pretty packed when we got out, but at least there were actual lineups (rather than just a mob).
