[12:50 PM EDT - Mushy mushy?]

I got into the office this morning and noticed a strange smell in the air. It was pretty subtle, but it was certainly noticeable. It took a while before I realized that the smell was coming from the three bananas I had left on my desk over the weekend.

These bananas were already a little too ripe on Friday, but I could not finish them then as I had a very large lunch and was much too full to eat anything. I planned to take them home with me so that they would not go to waste. Of course, I only remembered about them after I had left the office.

Now, the bananas have been getting more and more mushy over the weekend, but had not turned brown. I took that as a good sign that they were still edible. So I opened one and took a bite.

I tend to like a fairly firm, yet yielding banana. So the bananas I tend to eat are yellow with maybe a few brown spots. I tend to avoid the green ones as the taste is not sweet enough, and the meat is too hard. These bananas were close to melting in my mouth. Heck, I had to hold them gently so that they would not squirt out of the peel. The flavor was also.. not what I expected.

I finished the first banana.

I opened the second one, hoping for better results. Unfortunately for me, this banana was even further along the road to rot. There was no solid structure anywhere, and would have been good when I first got my braces (or if I had a wisdom tooth taken out), but at this time it was just making me gag.

I nearly finished the second banana.

Since I had opened two, I hoped that the third banana was the charm. Well, the top part was okay, but when I got to the bottom..

I have been rinsing my mouth since then to get rid of the taste, but it just keeps coming back! Ick.
