[Sunday, October 8, 2006: Now it gets busy.]

girl and Dangerman checked out of the guest suite this morning.

Being a co-MC, I was given some duties to perform and things to set up before the wedding. I needed to pick up a projector and I needed to figure out what the heck to say during the reception, things to do, etc.

First thing I did was meet up with GT and figure out some of the games, which we turned into trivia (with CT's help). There were a few other things we wanted done, but we were pressed for time.

Afterwards, I went home to pick up the car and went to pick up the projector before heading out for dinner. The drive up was crazy! A combination of heavy construction, the impending long weekend, and poor timing led me from traffic jam to traffic jam. I did end up taking a whole lot of short cuts, and realized that a map and navigator would make some of these jaunts a much faster commute, but there are some places where you have to go, and these are the bottlenecks.

I somehow managed to make it to the hotel at a respectable time, and our two families went out for dinner. We had a lot of food. A LOT of food. The meal we got was equivalent to a Chinese reception dinner, and unfortunately for our table, we were down a person, and our heavy hitter had already eaten. The rest of the group were light weights and it was down to me to finish most of the dishes.

Remind me not to give in to peer pressure next time. (Although the food was good!)

[Tuesday, October 17, 2006: With all those kids..]

During the week before the wedding, there were a lot of kids staying at the hotel. It seems as if there was some sort of hockey tournament going on and the place was flooded with adolescent boys and girls. This in itself is not a bad thing, but when you reach a certain number of kids around that age in an enclosed area, things can happen.

Kids being kids, or boys being boys, some of them played around with the elevators, pressing all of the buttons on each floor and/or in the elevator itself. We noticed this behaviour early in the week, and by the end of the week, two of the elevators had failed and an employee was placed in the remaining elevator full time to make sure that it did not fail. That was annoying, especially considering how busy the place was already!
