[Thursday, April 8, 2004: Dry fall. Wet fall.]

It stopped raining. I was pretty happy about that, even though the snow itself was pretty crappy. I borrowed some of DE's spray on wax so that I wouldn't have to push myself down the hill. Most of the rest of the group weren't all that interested in going skiing today after yesterday's poor conditions. Only KB, JM, DE, and I went out into the slush.

JM wanted to try telemarking which I thought was a little crazy considering the conditions. But, if you can learn to ski in this crap, you'll be able to ski in anything! (That's what I keep telling myself.)

The snow wasn't that much better, but at least it wasn't raining. We skiied for half the day, and had to take a break in between as I was generally out of gas by the time I got to the bottom. (Yup, the snow was still heavy and difficult to plow through.) I was surprised that JM was able to even get down the hill! (There's a lot of footage showing her awsome snowplow.)

Anyway, DE and I got our money's worth on the hill. I fell down a number of times, but it was good experience. Eventually, the rest of the group showed up down at the bar and we watched and participated in some events that were going on at the time. I'll get into that later..

[Wednesday, April 21, 2004: Volleyball brewery.]

There was a DJ who had set up in the bar, and he was playing some games and offering shirts and other prizes for people who participate. One of the games was this "volleyball" game. It was a plastic thing that you strapped around your waist. There were three hoops arranged in a triangle formation and a ball was attached by a string to the bottom of the thing. The object of the game was to swing the ball into one of the hoops. The caveat was that you could not use your hands. So most of our group (and some ladies from another group) participated in this little volleyball fest (we got lots of video) and we watched as the players swayed their hips to get as many points as possible.

In the end, it was Pezboy who walked away with the backpack after potting seven points in around four minutes.

Afterward, we headed out to a mixer where local breweries were showing off their wares. I didn't drink, so I saved some money, but that also meant that I didn't have much to do. Fortunately, the big screen was showing the Leafs game (which I found a little odd since I didn't think there were too many Leafs fans in Vermont) so I had something to watch. They were playing the Senators, so I found that even more odd as I didn't think there were any Senators fans outside of Ottawa.

Anyway, the DJ who was in the bar was at the brewery thing, so he started playing some music and had some more little games to play. One was doing the hoola hoop, or this tennis ball relay (where you had to pass from chin to chin without any hands). It was all fairly entertaining.

After the beer thing, just about everybody was very drunk, and it was at this time that the air matress was brought out. Someone came up with this crazy idea of tobagganing down the hill last year, but nobody went out to do it. This year SS brought an air matress and.. well, it's pretty obvious what we did. As I was the only sober one of the group, I was put in charge of them so that nobody got killed.

Umm.. Ironically enough I think I was the closest one to death as they pushed me down the hill and put me directly in line with one of the lift towers. (I navigated around it fortunately.) It was fun though, although the air matress was wrecked by the third attempt (I was the fourth one).

We headed back to the condo and I went to sleep.
