I got up late today. Something about needing rest may have had something to do with it. Anyway, the plan for today was to go to roller hockey, then a BBQ, and then play some more roller hockey.
Before I go, there was a great quote that I heard when I was playing ultimate on Tuesday. Some guy was getting married, and was asked,
"Have you gotten the three rings yet?"
The three rings?
"Yeah, the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and then the suffering."
Hee hee. Okay, I digress.
The first item on the agenda was roller hockey. Actually, it was lunch, which led me to watching Dangerman's 'Conan the Barbarian' DVD before heading out to roller hockey. (I never did finish watching it.) Actually, I never saw "Conan the Barbarian" when I was a kid. (I would've been seven at the time.) But I think my eyes would've popped out with the full frontal nudity.
(Hey, I didn't know that there was an entry for Legend of the Galactic Heroes on the IMDB.)
Anyway, back to the day's events..
I made it to roller hockey over an hour late (as usual). The game was pretty good, although I don't think anything special happened. Afterward, I went home to shower and rest before heading to to the grocery store to pick up dessert for the BBQ (Although I was originally looking for pecan pie, I got some ice cream which I found out was on sale, so I'll have to get some more for myself later!). On the way to the BBQ I was heading to an intersection signalling for a left turn, and I noticed the car coming in the opposite direction was slowing down. Looking at the traffic lights again, I noted that the lights were green. No flashing lights, no advance green, no left turn signal. When I reached the intersection, the other car came to a full stop. *looks at traffic lights again* *looks at car* *shrug* What else coud I do? I hit the gas and made my left turn.
I also came across a 4 GOOSE or U GOOSE vanity plate. I've been seeing a lot of vanity plates lately. Maybe I should start writing them down somewhere.
The BBQ went well, I got there late (see a recurring motif?) and ended up eating the last hamburger (which didn't end up being the last one when more people showed up and more food was put on the BBQ). The one no-show which was surprising was Laz. We tried to contact him but he was nowhere to be found..
I left the party early to play roller hockey and arrived an hour late. Well, I don't think I was that late, I was told ten, which means eleven and arrived at eleven-thirty. (On the way there, a minivan went through a red light at the intersection I was waiting at. The guy next to me and I stared at the van as it drove off and waited an extra second to make sure nobody else was coming through before making our turn.) I didn't initially recognize anyone there because there were a lot more people than I had anticipated! (I was thinking maybe six or seven, but there were about a dozen people there! Okay, so three were girls, so I was close. We ended up playing until two before we headed home. We actually got two goalies and two nets up (one was made of two garbage cans and a pair of hockey sticks). It was pretty fun, and good for me because I was tired and the level of play was a lot lower than the afternoon game, so I could take it easy and try to get the girls to score. Well, I only had one girl on my team but you get the point.
