[10:11 AM EST - Ski socks.]

How much ski equipment is there?!? I ended up getting a slight rash on my right shin because of all the friction between my jeans and skin (and then boot and skin). I was told later that there were special types of ski socks that would prevent that. Boots, socks, pants, jacket, gloves, goggles, helmet.. what other equipment do I need? (And here I was skiing in jeans, T-shirt, and dinky gloves and having no problems before.. yeesh.)

[12:31 PM EST - I want to go skating.]

I'm getting that urge to go skating again. Too bad there isn't anyone who's available who'll be willing to skating tonight. Skating alone can be boring, especially if you go to a rink that won't allow you to practice any jumps or other potentially dangerous antics. *sigh*

[2:15 PM EST - Is it Very Wet?]

While I was out picking up lunch, I noticed that the car in front of me had vanity plates: V WET. This reminded me of the other car I saw this morning that had the JONBLAZE vanity plate which I also saw a few months ago. (Yes, I keep thinking of the Ghost Rider.) Afterward was a WM LAW plate. Woman Law? (Yes, I know Law is a last name but let me digress okay?)

Well, I ended up losing a drink. The plan was to swing by McD's for a meal before grabbing something at Tim's. (I will not eat any McD's food if I can help it.) When I got my order, I tried open the drink tray and.. uh.. it's stuck. I tried several more times to fully retract the mechanism, but it got stuck at the same spot. After moving aside and parking, I took several minutes to fiddle with the device to try to get it to open all the way, since I couldn't put anything in it when it was halfway out and I didn't have any other cup holders in the car. No dice. This wasn't very good, so I placed the (already leaking) cup on the floor on the passenger's side hoping that I don't have to make too many sudden stops. I actually did pretty well until I hit that red light on that very steep hill. Just as I came to a stop, the cup fell over and flooded the entire floormat with Coke (the Cola). That's no problem, it looked like the plastic mat was hold.. why were the levels dropping? Was there a hole in the mat?!? Argh! The Coke ended up soaking through into the rug and now I have to clean it when I get back home. Very, VERY annoying.

The kicker is that when I got my drink at Tim's, the tray popped open (and now can't be closed). *glares at tray* I'm definitely gonna get myself a new car soon..

[Tuesday, January 1, 2002: No fireworks.]

After work, I watched some more Angelic Layer before going out for sushi with Tenshi and Laz. I tried contacting Werdna but he had already gone out. Dinner was fairly good. I haven't had good sushi in a while so this was a good refresher. Tenshi made some comment about not wanting to eat much because of eating solid each day for the past five days and Laz replied with something along the lines of

"Well, I've also been eating every day. In fact, I've been eating every day of my life!!"

Afterward, I drove to Finch station so that I could head downtown on the subway.

The plan was to go to Stonaday's apartment where he was having a little gettogether. But my timing was off (I was running an hour late) and so I decided to meet them at Nathan Phillips Square where they were headed to see the countdown.

The subway was packed. I was on one of the last subways before midnight and the moment I got off the car, I was effectively going with the flow. I realized once I got to the square that there was no way in heck I'll be able to find the group so I decided to just wander into the crowd and hope to find a good viewing location. I was sorely disappointed. After cutting through the skating rink, I got stopped by the wall of people standing on the benches next to the rink. It was nigh-impossible to see past them, and impossible to penetrate deeper into the crowd. The wave of incoming revelers penned me into that location, and I was forced to stand around, listening to the party people, getting quick glances at the stage while being packed in with the rest of the folk like sardines. At least I wasn't getting cold. The amount of heat being generated by so many warm bodies easilly counteracted the extreme cold temperatures (and chill wind) we were experiencing that night.

The countdown began while I was crammed in with a group that was visiting from south-eastern Ontario, and I was surprised that there were no fireworks this year. Well, maybe I shouldn't considering that there was no money in the city's budget. (As the Badboy would say: "Noooooooo Money!")

After the countdown, I filtered out with the rest of the people and headed towards Stonaday's apartment. I needed to look around for half-an-hour to look for a map because I didn't know where the building was (I didn't bring a map) but I was fortunate enough to see one in the subway station and this gave me at least a direction that I could travel in.

Halfway there, I heard a voice calling my name. Turning around, I saw JK! Whoa! What were the chances? JK was with a couple other people and had just arrived from a different party and were also headed to Stonaday's abode. I wisely hooked up with them and followed JK's lead to the apartment.

When we got there, we found out that there was a noticeable lack of females. Apart from the one in our group that is. Anyway, some recognizable faces were there like OMok, HKL, DM, AG and later arrivals that included JH, PP (who drove me to my car afterward), LL, VW, and AG. Actually, we did get a lot of people dropping by as the night wore on. I spent most of it playing 853 with HKL and OM.

Anyway, we left sometime past three and I made it home way past four. Man, I need sleep..

[Thursday, January 3, 2002: Cleaning the mat.]

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention (although it's not quite an interesting point) was that I cleaned up the passenger side floor rug. I needed to wash the coke out of the rug or it would get awfully sticky in a day or so, so I got a bucket of soapy water and began to scrub the mat. Because there was no space in the garage, the car was left outside (which was cold and very windy). I spent a lot of time keeping my hands in the water just to get them warmed up. I spent a lot of time scrubbing the mat and soaking up all of the liquid from the floor. It's amazing how much those rugs can hold.

Well, that was a learning experience. I won't be spilling any drinks in the car anytime soon. I cleaned the tray as well so that it won't happen again. (It was sticky with.. something. Ick.)

Oh yeah, I pass through thirteen traffic lights on the way to the hill. Quite a quick drive I must admit.
