[5:24 PM EST - I can't believe I watched the whole thing..]

Holy.. I just watched most of Initial D in the past couple of days. Oi vey, that's a lot of anime! Anyway, gotta get ready for Ski Patrol. It's my first shift! Whee!

[Saturday, December 29, 2001: First Patrol.]

I went on my first patrol that night. I wasn't expecting too much since it was the first day that the hill was open and only one run was available. Mind you, I wasn't exactly prepared myself. I couldn't find my toque, I hadn't gotten my helmet, I didn't have ski pants yet and I still have to learn now to ski properly. On top of that, I had yet to wax my skis and readjust my bindings. *hangs head*

Oh well. I got to the hill on time, and the other patrolers who were on shift were the Renee twins so I was bound to be assigned a lot of stuff. Anyway, first thing's first, I had to get my skis readjusted. Fortunately, being a patroller has it's perks, and I was led into the rental shop where the guy behind the counter took my skis and tried to readjust them for free! I said tried because they actually needed to be remounted. That's what happens when you have big feet I guess. Anyhoo, I was told that it would be an hour to an hour-and-a-half before they were done so I ended up spending some time cleaning out the hut and getting used to the surroundings. That didn't take all too long (there wasn't really much in there to do apart from clean up). Fortunately, the skis were done in half-an-hour so I was able to hit the slopes. My my, I'm glad I kept up with skating, it's helped me get used to balancing my skis, although there's so much more that I have to learn. After a couple of runs, the twins started giving me pointers on how to turn properly and keep the proper posture. That went on for an hour or so before we headed back into the hut to get warmed up. It wasn't long before it was time to close up shop though, so they showed me the closing procedures (even if it was only one run) and.. that was about it. Not too much to do actually seeing as there were only a dozen or so people on the hill.

But I really do need to work on my skiing.
