The plan for today was for me to do my chores during the day before heading out to Laz's place where MJO and louder would be showing up later that night. Unfortunately, my chores (which included cleaning the house, getting a hair cut, etc.) were distracted by the sudden appearance of Civ III on my radar, and by the time I checked the clock, it was already dinnertime. *sigh*
Well, at least I made it to Laz's place at a reasonable time. The plan was to play Diablo 2 and see if we could finish it that weekend. Unfortunately, MJO's laptop was from the UK and thus used a UK plug, which does not fit properly in our NA sockets. This put a dent in our plans because we didn't have any extra computers that could handle playing Diablo 2. Instead, we ended up playing Starcraft for the entire night. Since MJO was new to the game, we played against the computer for a while before splitting up into two teams of four. Well, a team of three and a team of two, with computer players filling out the rest of the slots. These teams were decided by a flip of a coin, and amazingly enough, I ended up with Werdna. Even more interesting was the fact that the division was perfect since the two of us were situated outside of the computer room while the other three were inside. A subtle closing of the door and we were physically divided.
I was a little worried that we'd lose because louder was fairly good, and Laz was the best amongst our group, but amazingly enough, in the first match, I was able to annoy Laz (who was right below me) and with the help of the computer, pushed him out of that spot. The computer then wailed on MJO, knocking him out, and finally took out Laz. louder, who was effectively penned in, made one more attack and gave up. (I was lucky I took out his carriers while he wasn't looking.)
We had a rematch on a different map. This time, werdna and I took out the computer player below us, and started encroaching upon louder's territory. But really, it was the computer that won the game because they ganged up on MJO, then louder and knocked them both out. Laz, who was left unscathed, unleashed his army on Werdna who's base crumbled against the onslaught. I stupidly tried to build defences, but this only tipped him off to my location and he walked right through my base as well. Amazingly enough, neither of us was knocked out. I eeked out an existance by hiding in one of the computer's bases, along with Werdna, so it ended up being the two computer allies who waltzed through Laz's bases. Crap, those computer players can be pretty tough huh?
I took a nap after that round. I was already tired around two, or three.. I can't remember. Anyway, I took a nap..
