[3:03 AM EST - What am I doing?]

Geez, look at the time. This was supposed to be my "take a break" weekend, so what am I doing up so late?!? Argh!

[2:58 PM EST - Broke me stick.]

I woke up early this morning so I could play hockey with the parking lot roller hockey guys. It went fairly well, even though we didn't have any goalies and only eleven people showed up, which meant that we were on the ice for most of the two hours. Oi. An hour and a half into the game - well scrimmage - I tried to stop a shot with my stick and the blade snapped off. I don't usually use it to play ice hockey with it (usually it's roller hockey) and the blade was made of plastic (it still is, but.. anyway..). So a combination of the cold which made the blade more brittle, and the fact that the puck is so much heavier and denser than a roller hockey ball must've led to it's demise.

That's really too bad. I only used it for eight months, having gotten it back in April. Very, very annoying. I think I'll go shopping today.. (I also need to get shin pads, a cup, elbow pads, etc.)

[3:16 PM EST - To make up for the missed day.]

I've come across some interesting news from the past couple of days. It's interesting to me, so that's all that I care about. Anyway, the first is about the possiblity of allowing drivers in Quebec to make right turns on red lights. I read that in the paper so I don't have a link yet. The rest are from the ShackNews. One is about some kid's dying wish. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it, but it's definitely an interesting moral minefield..

Also, we now know where all our snow's been going, and then there's that guy who tried to blow up his shoes yesterday.

[3:53 PM EST - Math proof.]

Here's a simple theory I came up with (although it might've been done already, I haven't checked). See if you can prove it.

RTP ax3 + bx2 + cx + d = a (x2 + c/a) (x + b/a) iff ad = cb

It should be pertty straightforward.

[Friday, December 28, 2001: Fellowship.]

Werdna came by my place to drop off a present. I ended up opening it the moment he gave it to me (I guess I was jumping the gun) and found out that he got me a set of headphones. Actually, they're a very nice set of headphones. They sound better than my five speaker system! Scary no? (Mind you, my speakers aren't that good, so it really isn't saying much.)

Afterward, I needed to pick up a new hockey stick and a Kris Kringle, so we headed off to National Sport (for stick and gloves) and then Canadian Tire (for the lawnchair) for some stuff, at which point I dropped him off back at his place. Afterward, girl and I went to watch "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" with some relatives but not after dropping off a present fro Laz. (Ta da! Ta da!)

The movie? Well, it was okay. They cut out some parts but it was still understandable for me. Unfortunately, I think it went over the heads of lots of people who haven't read the story and/or don't remember it. It's unfortunate. Next up is "The Two Towers"..
