[Wednesday, December 12, 2001: Maximum Pain.]

I don't know why I decided to set up the party, but..

I got a call from Dangerman asking me to get some stuff for him ready to pick up. I asked him what he had planned for the night and he told me that Laz had warned him that we'd have another gaming night this weekend. Well, I didn't have anything to do that night, so I figured that we might as well get it out of the way so that I can sleep on Saturday and Sunday. Well, that was the plan at least. So I called up Laz and Werdna to see if they had anything to do. Apparently not. So at ten or so, the five of us (Dangerman brought a friend) got together at Laz's place and began to set up our systems. A couple of hours later, theMediaman came by to round out our group.

The game of the night was Starcraft, and we threw in some Counter-Strike to demonstrate to Dangerman's friend. Unfortunately, we couldn't get Dangerman's laptop working on the network, so he ended up going home, bringing his friend along with him, which meant that it was just the four of us playing Starcraft for the rest of the night. I ended up taking a nap around seven while the three of them continued playing for a couple more hours.

I got up around ten, and started playing Max Payne, which Laz had demonstrated earlier that night. I got pretty far before we went out for food and some Christmas shopping.

When we got back, I continued playing Max Payne while the two of them got sleep. By the time they had gotten back up, I was nearly finished the game, so they sat around watching me play. Actually, I think Laz got more sleep, while Werdna watched me play most of the afternoon. Anyway, there was only one part of the game (which was really good) I wanted to mention. Well.. make that two. Or three.. anyway, the game was really good, the action was well paced, and the story was interesting. The dream sequences were very surealistic, and the cries from the wife and child were both coupled with all of that blood made it very creepy..

Two of the best parts in the game included the dream sequence where Payne realizes that he was in a interactive movie/computer game and it was the worst thing he'd ever felt. (Or something like that - I can't remember, I was tired alright?) The other part was in an elevator which was playing some real bad elevator music. I looked around and noticed that there was a speaker up on the roof so I took it out, silencing the music. I said,

"Thank you."

To which Max echoed,

"Thank you."

Laz got a great kick out of that.

After finishing off Max Payne, we dove into some Counter-Strike, more Starcraft, and finally some Dune: Emperor. Unfortunately, the game slowed down to a crawl late into the game, so we had to quit early. I think it might've been because my computer started to overheat, but if it did, it probably would've crashed right? I did notice some artifacts in Max Payne which may be heat related..

Anyway, afterward, the three of us played Counter-Strike until I said it was time to finally call it a wrap around four in the morning, and we went home..
