MJNL is hosting a party at the condo today so we spent some time getting ready (and making the baklava). We are now waiting for the food (and guests) to arrive..

So MJNL invited her co-workers over to the condo for a Christmas party. We booked the dining room and theatre room for the day and night respectively but disaster struck when I got a call on Friday from the concierge telling me that the DVD player was broken. No problem I told him, we could still watch the TV.
Well, when I tried to get access to the theatre room today, I was told by the concierge (a different one) that the theatre room was closed. What? I do not think so! I had him go and confirm that, and eventually he allowed us to enter. I tried turning on the TV and discovered that the settings were not correct! For some reason, the television settings were pointing to the wrong device. I think the original settings were pointed to the Rogers cable box, but since the condo switched to Bell, the cable box was unplugged and the Bell box was used instead. Funny how nobody changed the settings to match. (I guess nobody watches television in the theatre room.)
In any case, it did not take me long to figure out how to get the television working. But it took me a while to get the Wii set up. It was mainly because I did not want to cannibalize any of the connections but after a while I gave up and used the television inputs.
Oh yes, so MJNL and I got the dining room and lounge set up for the party. The food (from Dante's) arrived a little late. Actually I should talk about the food.
MJNL had decided on choosing Dante's to cater for tonight's dinner on a recommendation. Also, we had a nice meal when we went there a couple of weeks ago, and the fact that they delivered here helped. But when she tried ordering the meal on Wednesday, she was told to wait until Friday. When she called on Friday around noon, she was told to call after four. When she called after four, she was told to call the next day. When she called today at around two, she was told to call after four. (We needed the food in before six.) By that point she got quite annoyed and pestered the guy until he agreed to take the order. "I am doing this as a favour to you" he said. Pfft, yeah right.
So that was the food situation, it did arrive before the guests arrived though.
In any case, it seemed that everyone enjoyed the party. I spent most of the time playing Rock Band after we got the game set up. Nobody really wanted to sing though.
