[11:37 PM EST - Just a wee bit sore.]

My left arm is not as sore as it was last night. I do not think I could have played badminton with it, which was one reason why I skipped tonight. We did spend the night wrapping presents.

Hopefully I should be back to one hundred percent for tomorrow.

[Tuesday, December 1, 2009: Sea of (potential) jurors.]

So here I am in the jury waiting room. I have not been able to find an open wireless router that I can use to access the Internet so I am stuck with whatever I have on the laptop. The room holds over three hundred people, and I can overhear conversations from people who are trying to figure out ways to get out of doing their duty. The room has filled up quickly over the past quarter-hour, and there is quite a mix of people present. I would estimate that the average age is in the mid-forties.

I am pretty glad that I got down here on time. The study carrels filled up pretty quickly and there is not enough space on the main area where the chairs are.

The court day is supposed to last from eight-thirty to until four or five in the afternoon. There is some reading material here (mostly National Geographic magazines), and there are a few televisions that they are now using to display some informational video. My positioning makes it difficult to see the screens, but the study cubicles (where I am able to use my laptop) are off to the side and not positioned well for viewing the televisions.

Hopefully this will not take long. I forgot my phone at home and I got quite a bit of work to do.

[Tuesday, December 1, 2009: One week?]

So we had some guy come by to explain the situation, and give us all the information that we will need during our stay here at the court house. Apparently there was supposed to be some sort of video, but it did not work (which was fine since I could not see the television screens all too well from here anyway).

Okay, so apparently potential jurors are supposed to be in attendance for the entire week. I had thought that the attendance was only for one day, which was possible to handle, but considering our situation right now, one week is a little too much to bear, considering that this is before I am even selected for jury duty.

I have notified them that I had an issue with spending so much time away from work, so I am now just waiting for my interview.

The process is quite slow actually as there are only two employees dealing with all three hundred of us, of which I counted about fifteen percent probably raised issues about attending for the rest of the week.

Mind you, even if I am let out today, it probably means that I probably will be back in a few months..
