[10:40 AM EDT - Estrogen weekend.]

MJNL is having a bunch of her friends stay over this weekend. It started on Thursday when N met up with MJNL in the afternoon and we went out for Persian food. Originally we planned to go to Karoon, but when we walked inside, we saw that the tables were pushed aside and there were a bunch of guys with hand tools sitting around. There was no notice on the outside about renovations, but it sure did not look like that they were open for business. We headed to Zaffron instead. Instead of the kebabs, we had some of the more authentic Persian dishes. It was interesting for sure, although it does not quite fit my culinary tastes.

We went grocery shopping afterward at a Persian grocery store, and then home.

Last night, CG joined the group and the three of them went to the ROM while I was working. When I got back, we met up with another friend at Satay on the Road. I think I ordered a little too much, but we did finish off most of the tasty food.

We went to watch 'Tropic Thunder' after dinner and I had quite a number of good laughs during the show. Most of the audience laughed along with me.

The plan for the rest of the week is to meet up with yet another one of their friends and to go downtown..

[6:28 PM EDT - Neighborhoods walk.]

The four of us went around a number of areas of Toronto. The first was to drive through the Bridal Path area, then we walked around the St. Lawrence Market, wandered over to the Distillery and picked up some chocolate mix. We also bumped into an ex-coworker! After that, we walked around Yorkdale, then came back and wandered around my neighborhood.

I just had some home made mango shake. It's really tasty!

[6:52 PM EDT - Power down.]

I got a notice that the power for our building, in fact our block, will be cut this Friday for a system upgrade. That means that the server will be down during this period and I should unplug most of my electrical equipment just in case.

Unfortunately, we are also leaving that night to go to Copenhagen. Hopefully the power will be up before we leave..

[Saturday, September 6, 2008: Market, Distillery, and group completion.]

On Saturday, the four of us went downtown to check out St. Lawrence Market and then the Distillery district. I did not get anything from the market, but I went to the Soma Chocolate to check out their wares. They seemed to have a wide selection of unique chocolates, but I was most interested in the chocolate mixes. I decided to pick up a variety pack to see how each one tastes.

Afterwards, we went to the local T&T to do a bit of grocery shopping before heading back to my place. We ended up walking up to Blockbuster to pick up a movie ('Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay') and some liquor. When we got back to the apartment, the girls went ahead to make dinner.

We had an interesting mix of foods for dinner, and then started watching the movie. However, we stopped part way through because the last girl of the group had finished moving in town and needed a ride back. N and I went to pick her up. Me because I was the driver, and N because she needed to go to the bank (and would recognize her). Well, I drove down to both of our respective banks, but the ATM at Scotiabank broke, so we were SOL. I had only looked for the closest one en route to the pickup point and did not look for other locations. Since the route was mostly residential, I did not expect to find any banks along the way.

I did miraculously arrive at the pickup point right at the pickup time, and there was a girl who was standing there who looked like she was waiting for someone. Would you not know it but it was her!

N was surprised since she was not expecting to see her there (I guess nobody told her the plan?), but we got everyone in, and N was starting to explain how the ATM at the Scotiabank broke, and that we did not know where another branch would be. At that point, we were stopped at a red light and I looked out of the passenger window and asked,

"Is that a Scotiabank?"

What a coincidence!

The rest of the night was for the girls. I decided to go to bed.
