[3:34 PM EDT - It is all about the car, baby.]

This morning was pretty much reserved for car stuff. I planned to get up early to pack my summer tires into the car, drive out to the auto shop to get my emissions test done, get a quote on the scratch on the car, find out if they can repaint that end piece, see if I can get my tires switched, drive to the dealership, get the oil replaced, and eat lunch with my parents.

The plan.. was pretty good. I was able to get the tires into the car, and the get to the auto shop nearly on time. I must have been asleep because I did not hear him ask if it was an oil change, and assumed he was asking about the emissions test. Fortunately, he walked by telling me that they were all ready for the oil change, and that is when my mind clicked and we stopped the process, with plenty of time. They did swap my tires around, and I did get a quote on the damage. I also got them looking to repaint the bike piece, and that would cost quite a bit. But at least I will have a colour matching bike!

The emissions test went well, my car passed with flying colours. I dropped off the car at the dealership for the oil change and got a drive to my parent's place for lunch. The oil change was quick (I thought that they would take a couple of hours because we dropped it off before their lunch break), so I picked up the car, got a hair cut, and then left the winter tires at my parent's garage. (They were wet and they would not dry too well in my locker.)

Then I got home, renewed my licence, and now I am trying to keep track of all the things I did!

The rest of the day awaits..

[4:00 PM EDT - I love surprises.]

That is, I like being the one who is doing the surprise. This all started when I found out that MJNL was talking with her friend CH about going to an Alica Keys concert. MJNL thought that it was too much money to spend on a tight budget and declined to go.

Well, I contacted CH on the 20th and double checked the date and cost of the tickets. I also had her check on the 21st to see if there were still any more tickets left.

Apparently there was one more ticket available in their row, which was pretty lucky.

Now, the difficulty was with getting the ticket: Our paths never cross. CH is far enough out of the way, that I can not usually get enough time to escape for a ticket retrieval rendezvous.

Eventually we settled on CH asking MJNL out for lunch, and they organized it for today.

However, since MJNL is car-less, she would have to take the TTC to lunch. When the TTC suddenly went on strike, the plans went awry. However, the strike was not to last, and I think the plan was still a go.

Just before lunch, I checked with CH to inquire about the situation and I was told that MJNL had canceled lunch. They had rescheduled for Friday. No problem, I could wait.

Friday came and MJNL never mentioned anything about going out to lunch with CH, so I began to worry. I started inquiring obliquely about her lunch plans, and it did not jive with going out. When I e-mailed CH about it, she told me that MJNL had canceled lunch again and rescheduled for next Monday. By then I was getting a little annoyed with these constant delays (since I had already given the money on Tuesday) and decided to take matters into my own hands.

I got off work and drove directly to CH's house to pick up the ticket, and then drove straight home. That made me really late, but it would have taken longer if I had left from my condo instead.

Well, let us just say that MJNL was pretty darned surprised. Yes, surprised and happy. Yes, it was all good.
