[9:12 AM EDT - ImageMagick]

I have a couple of projects that I have put on hold. One of them was to get those webcam images compiled into some sort of movie so I did not have tens of thousands of JPEGs floating around on my server. A quick search revealed one program called ImageMagick. I think I will try it out since I can set up some sort of cron job to create the movie and clear out the images for that day. Instead of tens of thousands of images, I'll have hundreds of movies!

(Okay, then I will probably need to compile those movies into larger movies, but that is a problem for another time.)

[9:18 AM EDT - Poker and wings, supposedly.]

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention about poker night from last week was that the dinner plan was to eat wings. I was personally not up to eating wings so I had bowed out of that endeavour. I had not had a huge wing meal in months, and it is probably for the best.

Ironically enough, my mom gave us many leftovers for the week, and one of the dishes had chicken wings. Yes, I ate those wings before poker. No, I am not a hypocrite, I just was not in the mood for the wings that the guys were going to have.

In any case, when I arrived at poker, I asked how the wings were, and I got this look.

You see, the plan was that CY would go and pick up the wings after everyone gave him their order. Since I was not participating, I did not pay attention to the details, but I was pretty sure I saw that e-mail too from CY saying that he would pick up the wings.

Well, he did not pick up the wings. His excuse? He thought that GWG was going to pick up the wings! He did bring beer instead. After all was said and done, they had Swiss Chalet ordered in, which apparently was no substitute for the wings that they had been expecting. Oh well.

I had my wings.

[9:32 AM EDT - Driving Conditions: Catch the weaver.]

Another driving story that I had not written about was from some time last week. I was driving home from CH's place on Friday night and was sitting behind a car in the passing lane.

Two lanes to my right, I saw an SUV passing by at great vitesse and it quickly changed lanes to weave through traffic. Right behind the car was a police cruiser. The cruiser was fully marked, but the lights were not on, and it was tailing the SUV very closely. I watched as the SUV cut off a tractor trailer to get by another car, while the cop squeeze in behind. There was space for sure, but if someone was not paying attention, it would have gotten very messy. Then I saw both cars quickly switch into the passing lane in front of us and the back out in front of the truck.

Then and only then did I see the flashing lights being reflected off the cars around. (I could not see the vehicles directly.)

Crazy drivers! Did that person not even notice the police car behind him (or her)?

[6:06 PM EDT - FFMpeg.]

Okay, I have been having problems with imagemagick, so apparently I should be using FFMpeg instead.

[11:32 PM EDT - From images to movies.]

I followed the steps that I found on an e-mail list and it seems to have done the trick. I put together the images I took in the month of April (starting on the 14th), and it came out pretty well. The size of the movie was less than a 20th the size of the images, so I think I will continue with archiving the images this way.
