I have been selected for jury duty. Yay.
At least I will have time to go through some of those books that are sitting on my shelf.
During the drive north to Aurora for lunch on Sunday, we came across a police car. Two actually. I was getting off the highway and noticed a police cruiser in the middle of the road behind another car that was stopped at the intersection. The regional cop car had the cherries going, which really was not anything out of the ordinary. What stopped me was seeing an OPP cruiser coming down the wrong way on the off ramp, making a U-turn, and coming up right behind the two stopped cars. The lights were going of course, but to have the provincial police called in? This guy must be really screwed! We could see it on his face too when we drove by. Actually, we could not as his hand was covering it.
We also noticed an undercover cruiser on the way to the restaurant.
On the drive back to MIBAgentQ's place, I started passing a car in the middle lane, and as I was pulling into the passing lane to accelerate, the car behind me in the passing lane pulled over to reveal an OPP cruiser. It was quickly gaining on me, but I was afraid of speeding up too much to pass the car I was in the process of passing so that I could get out of the way (we were all going over the speed limit at a decent clip).
I was happy enough to see the cruiser pass after I pulled back into the middle lane. But I was a little wary when the police car hung around just ahead of me. Mind you, I was behind this SUV that was not going that much over the limit. Over the next few minutes, the SUV, the police cruiser, and by extension me, gradually slowed down. The cop was trying to keep pace with the SUV in front of me, which usually spells doom for that driver. Indeed, after a few minutes, the lights came on, and the car was pulled over.
I continued driving (and amazingly did not miss my exit).
On the way back home, MJNL and I saw yet another car pulled over by an OPP officer on the off ramp. So many cops that day!
Oh, and on the way home tonight, I got out of the gas station and pulled my bike in front of a car that had a strange protrusion on the top. I was thinking to myself that it could be a police cruiser (which I hope I did not cut off), and when I switched to the turning lane, I saw the hidden lights in the back window.
So many cops!

Wow, I'm actually sort of envious. Due to the nature of my work I'm pretty much obligated to try to weasel my way out of jury duty should I ever be selected.

P.S. You gonna try to decline jury duty? Do tell us what excuse you're going to use! ("I know s/he's guilty!" works pretty well).
