I took the day off today. The plan was to get my car maintained, donate the computer parts, return the Harry Potter books, have dinner with MJNL's co-workers, and pick up something from MIBAgentQ's place.
I had plenty of time.
The car was to be dropped off first thing in the morning (the appointment was at 7:30AM) so I would have the rest of the day to run my chores and potentially clean up the apartment. I got to the dealership on time: traffic was pretty good at that time of the morning. After I got everything settled with the car, the rental car representative came over to get me set up with a loaner car for the day. He asked for my driver's license.
I could not find my wallet.
I checked my bag, and it was not there. Then I called MJNL to see if she had left for work yet. I had a lot of trouble making contact until I realized that my phone was still linked to my bluetooth headset which was inside my bag!
After sorting that out, I found out that yes, my wallet was still at home. I realized that neither the dealership nor rental agency could let me drive one of their cars without my driver's license, and my condo was way too far for their courtesy shuttle. My dad was not home, and I had nobody else to get me back to my place. After thirty minutes or so of going through my options, we decided that my only option was to take my car back and drive myself home. Fortunately they had not started working on my car yet, so I picked up my keys, and drove home during rush hour.
