I have been keeping in touch with MJNL using some phone cards (Good Chat) that her dad was able to procure. I get about thirty minutes per $2.50 card on my cell (I would get forty minutes if we were using land lines) which is not bad. But one of her friends was able to get a $5.00 SIFA card which apparently has a hundred minutes, although I am sure that number is reduced when using a cell phone. (I have not used up all of the time on this card yet.)
The costs are fairly cheap considering. I still remember that hundred dollar plus phone conversation I had in university just because I dialed a couple of minutes before eleven. *shakes fist*

Have you ever considered using Skype or a Skype phone?

Actually yes. I did suggest using Skype, although Internet accessibility was scarce, and I was not really looking into picking up a phone. Do they have coverage in India?
