[10:27 AM EST - It's Friday?]

Man, does the week ever fly. Heck, the month is nearly over! We've got one more week and then we're in February. Hrumph. Anyway.. back to work.

[12:00 PM EST - Unchanged.]

Considering how much time has passed, very little has changed. I'm back into my winter routine of hockey, broomball, badminton and skiing. I'm spending most of my free time working on the site, and every now and then I go out to a party. Life goes on.

Not much has happened to interrupt these flow of events. I've been thinking of getting my car fixed, my teeth fixed, and my eyes fixed as well. Then there's buying a new car, or a new house, or.. a new anything. But doing any of these will require effort, and right now I'm kind of lacking in that department.

I haven't been looking for anyone either. All of these events and commitments have sucked up all of my time and to make time for someone else is going to require removing time from my schedule. I don't think I'm quite prepared for that yet. Not yet.

I'm going to be coasting for a while. Hopefully I don't coast too long, or I may end up missing my exit.

[3:46 PM EST - What's orzo?]

Hmm, I've never heard of it before. When I first saw the menu, I thought they had misspelled "oreo". Then again, tomato oreo doesn't sound that appetizing. I decided to try it out anyway. It seems pretty good. Basically small maggot sized clumps of pasta. *gobbles spoonful*

[4:30 PM EST - Getting a new Satellite.]

A Satellite Pro actually. Hopefully compilation times will decrease and loadup times will also decrease. It's too bad all that power isn't going to be used for gaming.. *sighs* Actually, having more than one USB port is also handy. Plugging in externals is going to be much simpler!

Anyway, things have quieted down here in the last couple of hours. Probably due to the fact that it's Friday, but hey, I'm not complaining.

[6:00 PM EST - Who wants power?]

I was just checking out the Ford Mustang that MJO alluded to yesterday and I must say that the coupe is relatively affordable. *looks at milage* Err.. 29 mpg? *thinks* That's not that good is it?

Ooh, the prices on the Canadian site are better.

[6:18 PM EST - GTi guy.]

I was looking for the Volkswagan GTi and it's about the same price as the mid-level Mustang!

Maybe I should get a scooter and be done with it?

[8:26 PM EST - Feel like going on a race?]

I found this on ArsTechnica. It looks pretty neat, and a million dollar purse made my ears perk. Unfortunately, because the units have to be autonomous, including refueling, this makes the task pretty daunting.

My first crack would be to use solar power/fuel cell combination. The solar cells provide all the power for the system while the fuel cells could store any excess energy. The main obstacle becomes rough terrain and steep inclines where more power will be needed to help the critter along. This also makes night driving difficult, but it refueling becomes moot. This configuration would make for an ideal planetary rover since it should be able to keep going, and going, and going..

Hmm, I sense that the solar cell/fuel cell idea won't be ideal for military missions since ideally, most scouting missions would be done during the cover of darkness. However, fuel cells can store quite a bit of energy, so perhaps it still might be feasible.

[Saturday, January 25, 2003: Paid counter-strike.]

I got a call from Dangerman last night. He asked if I wanted to go to a LAN party that night. I was planning on going skiing actually, but I figured that I could come back and play after patrolling. Unfortunately, he told me that he wanted to be heading back by eleven, which was when I was planning on finishing skiing. Hmm..

Laz suggested that instead of bringing in our own computers, that we try out one of those computer centres and pay for time on a computer. I figured that if we were only playing for a couple of hours, it would be more convenient and economical than lugging our own machines. So, by the time all of this was arranged, it was already nearly eight, which meant that skiing was a bust, so I stayed home instead.

We (Dangerman, Laz, Growly, and I) went to Laz's place where we got together and headed off to the computer centre. We got there and found out that the hourly rate was around three-fifty. Not too shabby actually. We ended up playing Counter-Strike for a couple of hours before calling it quits. The hardware was pretty good, and even though Laz and I were using LCD monitors, I didn't notice any ghosting or refresh effects. I was quite impressed actually. (Although our pings were much less impressive.)

Afterward, we picked up some food from Burger King (where three junior whoppers was cheaper than a poutine. *shakes fist*) before heading back home. There was a little fiasco at the Burger King drive in, but we came out unscathed.
