[Monday, December 13, 2010: Boarding the ship.]

Our flight was in the morning, and our ship was due to depart around five. That gave us some time to travel to the port, check in, and get settled before we left the dock. It was a little chilly in the morning, but we had no problem getting to the airport or going through customs. We did not spend a lot of time in the lounge though, as it took us longer to get through the lineups. MJNL was a little worried that we could miss the ship if there were any issues with the flight. This was highlighted by the fact that my plane had engine troubles the last time I tried flying out. However, out of all the times I have flown, I was only delayed like this once, so I was not overly worried.

We did arrive at the Fort Lauderdale on time, and had no problems finding a taxi. Now, the taxi was only a sedan and we had some fun getting all of our luggage into the car, but it was not long before we were on our way to the pier. It was fortunate that the pier guard informed us of the change in docking pier, as we could potentially have gone to the wrong boat! I think it was a difference of a ten minute drive. Getting registered and boarding the ship was fairly painless, although I was starting to find the weather a little warm for my liking. We had no trouble getting to our state rooms, and everything was layed out nicely and was well prepared for our arrival.

We still had a couple of hours to go before departure, so we went to the buffet to check out what was available. I was already feeling queasy from the rocking motion of the boat, so I kept my consumption to a minimum. I actually did take something to quell my stomach and I found that it helped a lot.

The weather was nice: It was warm with a few clouds in the sky. Our ship pulled out of port without any issues, and we wandered around the ship to explore. There are three open swimming pools, four hot tubs, and a spa pool, so being able to find a place to take a dip was not that hard despite having around three thousand people on the ship.

Wait, why am I bothering with this? Here is the deck plan.

We ended up watching the welcoming show and had dinner in the dining room afterward. The prime rib was very yummy! We went to bed afterward as we were tired from our travels for the day.
