MJNL and I went out to watch Wicked at the Canon Theatre tonight. MJNL had been raving about the show ever since we started going out, so when it came back to Toronto, she jumped at the chance to get tickets. Since we were so early we were able to get some really nice seats at a pretty respectable price!
In addition to us, MIBAgentQ, BaL and a few of their friends also came out for the show, but they got their tickets much later and ended up on the balcony.
The show itself was pretty good. We ended up getting the understudy playing Elphaba, but she had a pretty strong voice. The music did drown out the singing at times, but the music and story (although not canon) were good. It is a story that can bring adults back to the world of Oz.
Oh, while we were at the show, we saw JY! Apparently he was one of the lottery winners that got one of the box seats for the show. Apparently the had tried several times before, so it really is not worth the effort, so I think MJNL and I will stick to ordering the tickets online.
Hrm, that reminds me that we also saw PT and VT at the restaurant the night we picked my parents up from the airport.
Our group then had food at Duggans Brewery after the show. We got a little shafted because we only got the late night menu which did not have any poutine. In addition, the food was overpriced (over two dollars a chicken wing?) and not overly exciting. Sure, they add beer to their food, but I do not drink beer and I do not particularly find beer tasty. Ah well, I guess we are not going back anytime soon.
