[3:41 PM EST - Optical caramel.]

Today MJNL went with my parents to go shopping up at Cookstown Outlet Mall, so I had the day to myself. I had an optometrist appointment in the morning, and then I had time to figure out how to make this Creme Caramel that MJNL got a recipe for. I realized that I needed some ramekins so I rushed out to look for some, of course, after I came back with half a dozen of them, I realized that I should have gotten more. Oh well, I can cook in batches right?

Most of the time is spent waiting for the sugar to caramelize. I am still waiting..

[Tuesday, February 16, 2010: So it took longer than anticipated.]

So waiting for the sugar to caramelize took longer than I had anticipated so I was unable to make the second batch of creme caramel for dinner. It was okay since they could not completely finish the first batch, and it did turn out okay in the end.

In any case, MJNL and I went to my uncle's place to celebrate the Lunar New Year's Eve. About half of my relatives were there from that side of the family.

[Tuesday, February 16, 2010: I forgot about breakfast.]

Since we were going to be busy with family stuff on Valentine's day cum Lunar New Year's day, MJNL wanted to celebrate Valentine's day today. So she got up early, er, got me up early and showed me my gifts: maple and pecan pancake and waffle mix, and some Parisian hot chocolate mix. Yummy!

We made a bunch for breakfast, with these heart shaped cookie cutters. The original idea to cook it within the cookie cutter didn't work out so well so we did the cook and then cut technique. Lots of leftover bits though. (I got a heart in me hole!)
