[Sunday, April 19, 2009: Spring Ride.]

The plan for today was to ride out to Kitchener, meet up with the boys, and ride through some of the better routes in Southern Ontario on our way back home. The main reason for this was because PR had just picked up a new bike from that area. He had been looking into getting a motorcycle for some time, and when he told us about the purchase, I suggested that we go out and ride with him on his maiden voyage. I was able to convince EK and GWG to come along, and EK's friend K also came out to partake in the trip. MJNL decided to come along for the ride, and we all met up at Zeke's Feed and Fuel at around one. We had a long and tasty lunch (I had the burger and fries) and headed west. We had some issues along the way. The first was finding fuel. The gas prices in Kitchener were about ten cents cheaper than in Toronto, so I wanted to fill up before we left the area, but they wanted to look for a Sunoco station. Eventually, GWG's fuel light came on and he wanted to stop at the first gas station we found. The first gas station was one of the smaller companies, and it was packed. After hanging around for a few minutes, we decided to continue looking for a less busy station. The next one we found was a Sunoco and Esso, but the prices were the same as in Toronto! Doh! (I should have filled up in the city while I had the chance.)

After the fuel fiasco, the group had some trouble with signaling their intentions and we had situations where people were going in the wrong direction, used the wrong signals, or got mislead, or whatever. It took some time before I was able to hammer in the idea to have everyone signal (with their arms) down the line so the last person (which was me) had some idea what was going on.

Then we had GWG drop his bike. We were waiting to make a left turn and the left turn light had just turned red. PR was first, then GWG, and I was at the rear. Right in front of my eyes, GWG started tipping to the left slowly, and continued slowly going down further and further until it hit the ground, with GWG's leg pinned underneath. I immediately got off to investigate and PR and I helped to get the bike up. By the time we got him back in the saddle, and ready, the light had turned green. Perfect!

We did not have any other issues for the rest of the trip. We rode through the Forks of the Credit and then down Hockley Road. The group seemed to like it a lot, which was good, and the weather was pretty nice, which was also good.

Our group slowly disintegrated as we headed back East.

MJNL and I were so tired and sore after the ride that we took a nap, and slept in. We were late to her friend's birthday party. We got there really late, and stayed for an hour or so.
