[12:00 PM EST - A Christmas trip home.]

So, here we have the second day in the final year starting with 19.. I won't go into all that debate about when the millennium starts (since it OBVIOUSLY starts on in 2001). Anyway, some of you may be wondering why the hell I'm back in Waterloo when I told everyone (including myself) that I wouldn't come back till Sunday? Well, you see, there is this thing called a snowstorm that is currently whaling southern Ontario and dumping a few (a few?? ha!) inches of snow on our heads. This would not normally bother me, except that I was getting a ride from my parents and they didn't want to test their luck driving to and from Waterloo tomorrow (when the storm will still be raging) and so they kicked my ass out of bed and ported me back here.

Still, it's nice to be back I guess, I get to update my accounts on my computer and continue on work that has nothing to do with my thesis. My break, as far as breaks go, was pretty good. This is in the light that I lost my ride to TO last Wednesday and had to take the bus home, well, there's a little story here to tell. It starts from the school, where I picked up a schedule for the public transit route that would take me to the bus terminal. I figured 5:30 was a good time to leave for the 5:40 bus, so I started lugging my gear to the stop (which was at the north end of campus) When I got there, I saw the public transit bus pulling into the bus bay, but another sight caught my eye. It was a Greyhound Toronto Express bus!! Good lord, someone was smiling on me that day. The Greyhound pulled up into the bay and the driver opened the door, so I asked him where he was going. (Toronto - duh) So I asked if he could wait while I got money to pay for the trip (I was figuring on paying for the ticket at the terminal and had no money on me). Well, he told me that he actually shouldn't be there. The Toronto Express stop at UW was cancelled for the winter break, and he had just forgotten about it and went to the university by habit. Oh.. well, I asked him if he could take me to the bus terminal. He told me that I should probably take public transit. I could sense dark clouds coming to block that ray of hope that I had, for as I looked to the other bus, I watched as it pulled away and went down the street. Gee, maybe that higher being was playing around with me. Fortunately, the driver felt pity for me and decided, what the heck, and gave me a lift to the station. Woo hoo!

Well, the trip was pretty much uninteresting after that, talked to the driver a bit and wished him a merry Christmas when I got dropped of at union (where he grunted or something), but it definitely lifted my spirits and made me believe in the spirit of Christmas again.

The day after that was Christmas eve, which went like all other Christmas eves in the past few years.. pretty uneventful, the next few days were spent in Ottawa, where I found out that the only tapes in the car for the long journey to the nation's capital were all CHINESE OPERA!!! My god!! Well, I was able to convince my sister to smuggle a couple of her tapes on board so we were listening to a bit of more contemporary music.. whew! Still, it would've been nice if the Rideau canal was open, I wanted to skate on it (even brought my skates all the way) but as the weather had been so warm up to that point, the ice was too thin. Gosh darn it (I said darn cuz I didn't want to say damn), I didn't get to use my skates.

The annual winter party at AMY's party went as smoothly as normal, I only expected to stay an hour or so (Thus I got there late). Instead, I was one of the last to leave.. good grief, I met some people I hadn't seen since I high school, and it was refreshing to see that other people had real lives (compared to people like me) and in general have not changed a bit since high school. Heh. That was funny. Even found out that people happened to come across this page while bored out of their wits (well, who the hell would come to The PIT??). Great, now people will be reading my thoughts, well, here's one thought for you: *pthbth*

The last full day here was spent skating with that well known person who seems to shy away from most of these high school reunions. It was nice to see that I wasn't the only one to enjoy skating, though I should've actually tried to get people together for a skating thing. Next year maybe. Oh yeah, BTW MPS, the postal code is N2L 3W2. There, I remembered.

Now here I am, back to where I came, and still completely the same. I spent part of the night with Renee, I'm glad she's getting a ride home, no one in their right mind would be walking home in this weather. Well, it's time for me to go.. I think it's clear and calm enough to see all the objects I'll be running into on the way back to the house. So I should probably take advantage of this opportunity and head out. No skating this weekend, but I do have pictures. I'll post them tomorrow when I'm awake.
