Ah, one thing I forgot to mention about the movie, and something I hope I am not spoiling since I had seen this clip on the preview, was the technical overview of the fight in Holmes's head. This was pretty much exactly how I imagined Batman would fight. Also, I never really pictured Sherlock Holmes as a man who would rely on combat or physical feats (as opposed to Batman), but would be more of a mastermind while leaving the dirty work to the police. (Batman, on the other hand, would only rely on himself to do just about everything.)
Ah well, the movie was still enjoyable.

Never read any of the books but apparently Holmes is quite skilled with the fisticuffs and various weapons. He had to go "old school" with Moriarty, after all. -- HKL

Yes, Holmes is a capable fighter and can certainly use a gun. He only went "old school" with Moriarty because his fans wanted more stories! (Or he would have stayed dead.)
