[9:03 AM EST - The calm between the storms.]

We had a winter storm yesterday and there will be another storm coming tomorrow. It was not as bad as it could have been since a good number of people decided to stay at home that day. The streets were relatively empty and driving was not as treacherous. My winter tires helped though.

Speaking of my winter tires, there was an clip on the evening news talking about a brand of all season tire that one could use in the wintertime. I was interested, seeing as I was using Nokian WR tires on my car for the winter.

Guess what? That was the tire they were talking about on the news! Doh! The secret is out! I was planning on getting new Nokian WR's this summer, but I have a funny feeling that supply may be a little low this year..

Oh, so before I got side tracked, I wanted to mention that I had forgotten about this blog's 10th anniversary. I could have celebrated on the 17th but I considered the entry on the 19th as the true first entry for the blog.

Happy tenth!

To catch up for the past few days..

On Wednesday, MJNL and I went to badminton, and found out that there was another small Christmas party after the game! There was not as much food as previous years, but we already had our group Christmas dinner, so this was really a bonus. However, MJNL was in the mood for sushi, so we did not stay and headed to Hanabi for some tasty fish!

On Thursday, I had the company Christmas "dinner" to go to. It was being held at the office with some catered food. There was tons of Chinese food available, so I loaded up with three plates, which meant that I was pretty stuffed for the next twenty hours. I got home relatively late, and I was also double booked with the condo's wine and cheese party taking place around the same time as TT's party. But the latter got canceled, so we showed up to the wine and cheese (with about fifteen minutes to go).

There was a raffle going on, with tickets for a dollar each. I figured that it was worth the price so the two of us rushed back upstairs to get some change. When we got back down, the guy who was handing out the tickets told us that he put two tickets aside since he had a good feeling about them. I joked that,

"Well, if I don't win, then I want a refund!"

Ha ha.

I did not recognize very many people at the party. I would say that five or six faces were familiar, and we were by far the youngest attendees. In fact, I think the average age was more than twice MJNL's age! (If not twice mine.)

That reminds me of the comment BL made when we went to square dancing years ago.

In any case, we did meet a few nice people, and we stayed until the raffle. The prizes were really nice, and they were all donated by vendors in the area. The vast majority of the numbers being called were around the tickets that we got. If we had 812 and 813, the numbers that won were 811, 814, and 815. I found that highly unrandom, especially when they called out one of our numbers. What I did not realize was that our prize was the last one. The grand prize.

"You won the Raptor's tickets!"

*blink*

What?!? I was not expecting that! Two dollars for a pair of Raptor's tickets. That's a pretty good deal! (Now if they were Leaf's tickets..)

MJNL and I got off work early yesterday so we spent some time watching 'No Country for Old Men'. I think MJNL found the movie depressing. It was well done, but also had no happy ending. To balance it out, we watched an episode of The Office.

[9:22 AM EST - Forgotten updates.]

Oh dear, I did forget some things. Our company Christmas lunch was on Wednesday, and there was a birthday dinner for TT that conflicted with poker last night, however the storm basically canceled both events.

I have an orthopedic appointment this afternoon, and MJNL wants to do some studying this weekend.
