[Sunday, May 16, 2010: Woo is me.]

MJNL and I went to Woo's Restaurant and Lounge with some of her co-workers for dinner. One of them had a coupon for 10% off dinner so they wanted to try it out. I was reluctant since it was Chinese buffet style and the restaurant was affiliated with Star Walk Buffet which I was not a fan of. In addition, MJNL and I were going to go to Wasabi Japanese Buffet for lunch on Saturday which meant that there would be two all you can eat East Asian meals in less than twenty-four hours.

Ah well, it was all about the company anyway right?

In any case, the decour and ambiance was alright. I was especially impressed by the sinks they had in the washroom. The water came out of a hidden faucet that poured onto a porcelain slab and the water would spread off the edges of the slab into flow through the trench into a hidden drain.

The food quality was okay, and the variety was okay. They basically had the same stuff as Star Walk Buffet or Wasabi Japanese Buffet except that there was about half of the selection, with a quality a bit better than Wasabi. At least there was a lot of unagi! I certainly filled up on that.

The other thing that was really nice about Woo's Restaurant and Lounge was the service. All of the waiters/waitresses were courteous and attentive, and explained all of their actions well.

What bothered me the most happened after we got the bill. The waitress was good enough to tell us that a 15% gratuity was applied to the final bill, so that we would not be taken off guard. So when I payed by credit card, I just signed off on the final amount.

It was not until I got home when I realized that the amount that was punched in for the credit card did not include the gratuity! I felt so bad for our waitress, especially when I was asked by someone else if we needed to add any tip to the amount,

"Naw, it's already included."

I guess I will not be going back any time soon..

Reminds me of the "Law of Chinese Restaurants" which my Keyboarding II teacher once told me about:

"The quality of the food is inversely proportional to the cleanliness of the washrooms". So true! (Well, at least for the cheap dim sum restaurants...)

Mmmm, all you can eat unagi!
