[7:08 AM EDT - Google Documents is great!]

This is great! I still do not have 'Microsoft Office' installed on my new machine, and someone sent me a Word document to print. I uploaded the file to Google Documents, printed it out, and deleted it. All done!

[11:54 AM EDT - First heat wave in motion.]

Well, we are in the third day of the first heat wave of the year. It is hot out there, and MJNL and I had volunteered at the Rick Hanson Wheels in Motion Wheelchair Challenge. It was a bit of a farce, since we had signed up for a number of events to do (we were to select three that we would want to help with) and we ended up with a job that had nothing to do with any of our choices! (Parking duty.)

What the heck?

On top of that, we were given no instructions, and no guidance. Indeed, there was no supervisor for our area, so we had to make due with a list, and trying to figure out what we were supposed to do, and where we were supposed to go. Furthermore, the third person who was supposed to help did not show up.

Let us just say that I was glad we left early (we had the early shift).

[Monday, June 9, 2008: Test drive(s).]

I went out to the Mini Clubman test drive this afternoon that theMediaman informed us about. It was an extremely hot and sunny day. MJNL was not feeling well due to the weather and decided not to drive, which left me as the driver for all of the cars. (Whee!)

The course included things like a braking scenario, and an avoidance scenario, as well as some weaving, and on ramp acceleration. Enough to get a taste of the abilities of each car.

I got to drive both automatic and standard versions of the Mini Clubman and the Mini Clubman S, as well as the Mazda 3 Sport, VW Golf GTI, and Volvo C40. I drove the Volvo first, and by far it was the worst ride of the bunch. Mind you, it was my first ride through the course, and I was still unfamiliar with it so I was taking it very easy. Since the speeds of the course were limited, all of the Clubmans behaved the same (basically). I found the Mazda and the VW to be very similar as well, but since they were bigger, felt a little more sluggish and less stiff.

I have to get going, so there will be more later.
