I went to poker last night for a couple of hours. I spent time with MJNL so I showed up late, and I was afraid of rain so I left early. However, I left with over three times more money I ever won from the group. I have no idea how that happened. I just kept winning, and winning, and winning.
Another thing that may have contributed to this was the change in denominations. Instead of playing ten and twenty cent blinds, they raised the blinds to two and four bits! This lead to a lot bigger raises, and a lot more "all in" situations, and much larger pots in general.
It actually got quite ridiculous: I won the first three hands in a row after I sat down, and that was half of my winnings. Then I got a four of a kind, and then I rivered a runner-runner nuts flush, and.. it was just ridiculous. After each ever more improbable win, there were more cries from the group for me to give up the lucky ten.
I should note that before the game, AI had already told me that the ten could not be placed on the table. He was that superstitious! As the night progressed, he started offering me money to get rid of the broken bill!
In any case, I ended up keeping my ripped ten, and I walked home with quite a pocket full of bills. All in a couple of hours. (It was probably good that I left, since AI was getting desperate to remove the broken ten from the premises.)
