I was driving around with one headlight for the past several days. MJNL noticed it first when I picked her up from work on Saturday but I have no idea how long it was out before then.
I wanted to get the bulb replaced and swap the Nokians out for the Goodyears today at my parents' place but it took quite some time to replace the bulb. I remember trying to do it by myself years ago before giving up and bringing it to the dealership. MIBAgentQ mentioned that it was trivially easy to do, and I wanted to double check to see if I was putting too much thought into how hard it was.
Well, after taking the battery out, it was not all that bad. It did take some time to figure out how the heck to take the bulb out as the one I wanted to replace was nearly impossible to see, but fortunately the one next to it was much more easily accessible once the battery was out and we used that as a model for the first. I think it took about an hour in all, and that did not leave enough time for the tire swap.
That was probably a good thing because I had left the lug nuts at home.
I also carted girl's old computer back home. JB was asking about computer parts some time ago and I figured that he might have more use for it than us. Unfortunately I cut myself on one of the metal pieces and started to bleed. I was surprised at how quickly the blood clotted though. I still hope I don't get 'tetanus'.
Oh, I also locked out the radio when I took out the battery. Fortunately I had the code written down somewhere..

Yup, the main problem with swapping out the lights was working in cramped conditions. The other problem was remounting the socket in the proper orientation. Otherwise, it is a straightforward procedure.
There's always Reboot Canada if you want to donate the parts. However, they'll only give you a tax receipt for a whole computer.
And, nope, you can't get Tetanus from a superficial cut. It's an anaerobe so you need a deep, penetrating wound (like stepping on a rusty nail -- ouch!). You should also be getting a Tetanus booster every 10 years.

Whew! So I should not have worried so much about all of those penetrations and abrasions I got from the many metal objects I have run across..
I do have a whole computer to donate actually. I do not think I will be able to get much off the market for these parts anyway..
