Dang! The Rideau Canal closed on March 5th this year for skating. I did not know that the canal was only open for skating for 41 days this year..
Okay, next year we will try to skate on the canal ne?

It was a funny year for Ottawa. On one hand it was a very wintry winter - just shy of a record for snowfall. On the other, it was one of the shortest skating seasons. Apparently all the snow softens the surface.

Hmm, that is really too bad. I was hoping that the skating season would be longer this year because of the snow! Does it insulate the canal and keep in the heat or something?
