[Monday, May 11, 2009: Missed the party.]

While MJNL was out with friends, I had a get together with LL and some of the folks from high school. LL was in town for a week or so and wanted to meet up with us today, but as the date approached, more and more people canceled until it was basically a couple of people who might show up. The weather was actually quite terrible that day, with thunderstorms flying through the city. But as the meeting time approached, there seemed to be a break in the clouds, and I decided to ride down to the bar instead of taking the subway.

That was not a problem. The problem was that I took the wrong route downtown. Instead of going left and going south on Avenue Road, I turned right and went south on Yonge Street. This is normally not a big issue, as Yonge was not that much slower than Avenue, but the problem was that there was a funeral precession just at that time on that day, and I rode smack dab into it. I was not sure how long I would be slowed down, so I stuck with it, but I probably should have found another route down? In any case, when I got to the bar half an hour late, I did not see anyone I recognized, and after asking the bartender, who also did not seem to remember seeing anyone by that description, I decided to go back home. I did not want to risk getting wet.

When I got home, I found out that LL was an hour late! Ah well.

Oh, it was also Graduate's fortieth birthday today. There was a party, but due to time and cost constraints, we did not go. But we did go out to eat at Jerusalem and I went to hockey.
